Turkey Trot Linkup

Today I'm linking up with Holly and Erin to do a Thanksgiving link up! I'm not doing a vlog, I just can't stand the way I sound on video. Maybe I'll get over it one day and do a vlog, for now I'll stick with blogging, lol.
I'm hoping to gain some readers by doing this link up :). This homegirl could use some!!

1. What do you look forward to more: the food, football or parades?
Food, duh! I love food :)
2. What is your favorite non-traditional Thanksgiving Day dish?
Coming from a Mexican family we always have to have some Mexican with our dinner. I would say my favorite are tamales, mmm I can just eat those all day eeer’day. You’d be surprised how good they go with all the traditional Thanksgiving food ;)
3. After dinner, is it football or a nap?
Neither. Drinks and prepare to tackle the Black Friday sales.
4. Do you watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade? Which is your favorite float?
No, I’m not a fan.
5. Where do you go to celebrate and eat your big meal? Who is there (family, friends)?
We try and celebrate with both sides of the family. That means we’ll do lunch with my husband’s parents and dinner with mine. We have a very big family…talk about trying to please EVERYONE!!
6. What is your favorite turkey day dessert?
Pecan pie, OH MY KITTIES, I love that stuff!

Happy Thanksgiving Y'all!

Chalkboard Activity Table

I have been wanting to make a chalkboard activity table for the kids and I finally came across an old coffee table at a garage sale. The kids love to attack my driveway with chalk but with the cold weather finally here, they will have to do their artwork on this awesome little table :)
I used a valspar satin colored spray paint, valspar chalkboard paint, a sanding block and roller brush.
Before and After
I think I love it more than the kids. I'm on a mission to find miniature stools but I have a feeling that won't happen so easily, I might have to tell my dad to hook it up with some stools! (He's a carpenter and is damn good, if you need any remodeling/construction work done hit me up!!)

Happy Monday!

Crock Pot Chicken Taco Chili

I think its safe to say that I suck at blogging :(
I thought I’d share my all time favorite crock-pot recipe with y’all. I probably make this one at least twice a month- we love it that much!

Chicken Taco Chili
Crock Pot Chicken Taco Chili
Servings: 10
Calories per serving: 202

1 onion, chopped
1 16-oz can black beans
1 16-oz can kidney beans
1 8-oz can tomato sauce
10 oz. package frozen corn kernels (or 2 small cans of corn kernels)
2 14.5-oz can diced tomatoes w/chilies
1 packet taco seasoning
1 tbsp. cumin
1 tbsp. chili powder
24 oz. (3) boneless skinless chicken breasts
Chili peppers, chopped (OPTIONAL)
Chopped fresh cilantro

Combine beans, onion, chili peppers, corn, tomato sauce, cumin, chili powder and taco seasoning in a slow cooker. Place chicken on top and cover. Cook on low for 10 hours or on high for 6 hours. Half-hour before serving, remove chicken and shred. Return chicken to slow cooker and stir in. Top with fresh cilantro.

P.S. I will try to do a better job at keeping up!
